A Personal Bank Account for a Limited Company

Payouts are expected to land with the business that was underwritten, or a person Stripe has accepted as entitled to them. A friend’s bank is not a detail.

On this page

A limited company that pays out to a personal account, a spouse, or a newly formed company creates a break in the chain Stripe is checking: legal entity, owners, bank. Sometimes a sole trader genuinely is the person. Sometimes the personal account is a workaround because the company bank is frozen. Those are different facts, and only the true one belongs in the reply.

The name on the bank should be explainable from the name on the account.
The payout bank is part of the underwriting. Changing it mid-review is a new question.

What is actually moving

Changing the payout bank on the day of a pause does not release the paused balance, and it often adds an identity review. Pointing the payout at another business is not a treasury decision. It is a change of who is paid for the sales.

  • Company sells, company is paid: the ordinary case.
  • Sole trader sells, that person is paid: explain it.
  • A friend is paid: stop.
  • A new company is paid to dodge a pause: stop.

What people confuse it with

If the bank name and the Stripe name differ, explain it in one sentence or correct it to the truth. Do not “correct” it to a relative.

Not a reinstatement method

Nothing in this note switches a Stripe control off, quotes a secret threshold, or suggests another login as a remedy.

What to do with it

Align the bank with the seller before you call it a payout problem.

  1. Read the account name on the bank document.
  2. Read the legal name on the Stripe account.
  3. If they differ, say why, truthfully, or change the bank to the entity that sells.
  4. Do not change banks in the middle of a review unless the notice asked you to correct a mismatch.

What this briefing is not

It is not legal, tax or card-scheme advice, and it is not Stripe’s policy. Your notice and Stripe’s terms control the account. RevRouters does not process payments, does not lift a freeze, and does not offer another business’s account as a remedy.

Questions on this note

Can I payout to a personal account temporarily?

Only if that person is the seller Stripe has accepted, or the notice told you to correct a detail. Temporary usually means concealed.

Will a new bank release a paused payout?

No. A pause is not cured by a new destination. The destination is a separate check.
